Nemoy, Leon

(b. 1901)
   American scholar and librarian. He was born in Buta, Russia. He was the librarian successively at the Society for the Propagation of Knowledge in Odessa, at the Academic Library in Odessa, and at the University Library of Lwow. In 1923 he settled in the US and was appointed curator of Hebrew and Arabic literature at Yale University library. He published numerous studies of the Karaites.
